| Abstract |
Regarding Liu Kezhuang (劉克荘) who was a prominent bureaucrat and literati in the late Southern Song period, various researches have so far been done mostly focusing on his poetry. In my research, I pay... special attention to his remarks about his antique collections, and explore the relationship between those remarks and his view on literary creation. Reading his numerous remarks on antiquities, Liu Kezhuang turns out to be a collector and an appraiser of calligraphic works and paintings, and to use the notion of "qipo" (mettle, 気魄) and "liliang" (power, 力量) frequently when he writes his opinion on the antique works. Interestingly, he also employs exactly the same words and notion in his literary criticism.
