I investigated the nursing in Nepal to clarify the following three points. 1) To elucidate the characteristics of curriculum of nursing education in Nepal and to review their history. 2) To find out t...he differences and indifferences between Japan and Nepal as to the teaching system and health care system. 3) To discuss about the future of the health care system in Nepal and our role in international collaboration in nursing. Study data were accumulated through focused interview, participant observation, and quasi-structured interview. Study results were as follows: 1) Nursing curriculum in Nepal were based mainly on primary health care. Because of the medical background in Nepa1, they spent more time on teaching maternal nursing and community health nursing, and also clinical practice had more weight than teaching in classroom. 2) In general, medicine in Nepal needed to develop. Especially in rural-mountain areas, geological restrictions were obstacles to development of medicine. Many women did not read. This was a serious problem in educating good nursing staffs. 3) It was obvious that they needed much more man-power in training nurses immediately. However consideration on their historical and ethnic background had to be made and we had to discuss sincerely with people in Nepa1 on international collaboration in nursing.続きを見る
