概要 |
In this study, we investigated whether people recognize emotions from neutral faces of children (11 to 13 years old). We took facial images of 53 male and 54 female Japanese children who had been aske...d to keep a neutral facial expression. Then, we conducted an experiment in which 43 participants (19 to 34 years old) rated the strength of four emotions (happiness, surprise, sadness, and anger) for the facial images, using a 7- point scale. We found that (a) they rated both male and female faces as expressing sadness and anger more strongly than happiness and surprise, and (b)they rated male faces as expressing sadness and anger more strongly than the female faces did. However, (c) female faces were considered to express happiness more strongly than the male faces did. These results suggest that the difference in gender of faces may affect emotion recognition in neutral faces of children.続きを見る
