The purpose of this paper is to deal with the diffusion of the flow through the sluices of sea-dike. As the flow through the sluices streams into the water basin which has uniform and steady flows, a law of conservation of momentum is applied to the flow to calculate the angle of the deflected jet and the velocity distribution. And also the propriety of their theoretical solutions is confirmed with hydraulic experiments. As the practical applications of this study, the large scale sluices in Nagasaki Reclamation Project are taken up, and the change of the forces of the flow through the sluices and the influence which the tidal current exerts its flow are discussed.
