Richard Proudfoot, for example, argues that “The degree of similarity has been fully demonstrated, most i...mpressively by Kenneth Muir.” This paper shows that, although there are many areas of correspondence, we can notice their differences in design, content and expression, and it is actually these differences that prove that Shakespeare might be the author of Edward III. Whilst other critics insist that Shakespeare is the author of this play due to the correspondence between it and other historical plays by Shakespeare, this paper argues that it is actually the differentiation between the plays that indicate Shakespeare was the author.
