It has been widely recognized that the predicates jiehun le 'got married' and shi fuqi 'are husband and wife' in Mandarin Chinese share a common feature, that both predicates require two participants.... However, when these two predicates are used with the adverb dou (distributive reading) and yiqi (cooperative reading), completely different grammaticality judgments will arise even when there are exactly two participants in the sentence. This paper claims that these predicates are not jiaohuxing duanyu or parallel compounds in the literature. The two types of predicates have different syntactic structures, and co-occur with two types of gen-phrases.続きを見る
