概要 This study clarifies the socio-economic factors which influence the mental depression of Filipino Migrant Workers in Japan, through qualitative and quantitative analysis. The result of qualitative dat...a was that the socio-economic factors can be classified into four domains; i.e. 1. Working condition in Japan ("Work Domain"), 2. Family condition in the Philippines ("Family Domain"), 3. Daily life in Japan ("Life Domain"), and 4. Anticipated future after they go back to the Philippines ("Future Domain"). The quantitative analysis shows that all four domains correlate to level of depression measured by CES-D scores, though for Life Domain the correlation was not significant. The correlation value is Family Domain (r = .334), Future Domain (r= .226). Work Domain (r = .215), Life Domain (r= .122) Qualitative analysis suggested that Filipino Workers are bound by a virtue known as utang na loob (a debt of gratitude) offered by their families.
