概要 The Upper Cretaceous deposits exposed in the Tombetsu Valley of northern Hokkaido (see index map at the upper left corner of Fig. 3) are mostly the Hetonaian (K6), i.e. . approximately Campanian and M...aastrichtian. They are subdivided into five formations, marked in this paper simply from A to E in ascending order. Formation A, mostly claystone, belongs to the uppermost part of the Upper Yezo Group and of K6al age on the evidence of characteristic species. Formations B, C, D and E contain sandstones in various amount and lithostratigraphically referable to the Hakobuchi Group, but the sediments are genera11y finer and much thicker than the type Hakobuchi Group in central Hokkaido. They contain more commonly marine fossils, of which characteristic species of ammonites, inoceramids, etc are enumerated, with indication of their localities (see Figs. 1-5). Formations C, D and E are of K6b age and correlated with the Maastrichtian. It is suggested that the Upper Cretaceous of this area would be suitable for coordinating macro-with microfossil biostratigraphy.続きを見る
