Abstract We are developing the numerical model called the RIAM-COMPACT (Research Institute for Applied Mechanics, Kyushu University, Computational Prediction of Airflow over Complex Terrain). The object domain... of this numerical model is from several m to several km, and can predict the airflow and the gas diffusion over complex terrain with high precision. In the present paper, we discuss the handling of the outflow boundary in unsteady numerical simulation of airflow over complex terrain. The simulation of six cases was executed to this purpose. As a result, to execute the calculation with stability, it was shown that the area about three times the typical height of topography was necessary.show more
