The change in sensitivity of the plant grown under the heterotrophic and the autotrophic conditions to vernalization was shown by the hyperbolas respectively to the lapse of days after germination. The decreasing rate in sensitivity of the plant grown under the autotrophic condition to vernalization was larger than that grown under the heterotrophic condition, nevertheless increasing of the dry matter weight was observed under the former condition. The sensitivity of the plant to vernalization was the largest in the first stage, decreased remarkably in the second stage and seemed to disappear in the third stage under both conditions. The decrease of effect in vernalization will be able to supplement to some extent by prolonging the vernalization period. The second stage in which rapid decrease of the sensitivity to vernalization and the little effect in addition of vernalization period was observed may be the transition stage from the subterranean life to the terrestrial life, and is the converting stage in the nutritive type and the developmental phase. The plant grows very slowly in vernalization period. After vernalization (a week), it grows in the same state as in the 2nd day under the control (heterotrophic condition 30℃). The changes in dry matter weight of the seedling was scarcely noticeable for vernalization period.
Vernalization中でもミノワセダイコン(Raphanus sativus L. var. raphanistroides Makino, variety "Minowase")は非常に緩慢ながら生長を続け,処理(5±1℃)1週間後には対照条件下(30℃)で発芽2日目のものと同じ状態になる.またvernalization中,メバエの乾物重の変化はほとんど停滞に近い状態である.
