The purpose of the present study was to acquire knowledge concerning informed consent in children with cancer. We interviewed 5 individuals with significant influences on the minds of children with ca...ncer. We assessed the point of view of the children to understand their thoughts and feelings. From the resulting data, we concluded the following: ① both verbal and non-verbal communication are important when talking to children about their disease; ② there are challenges for adults in thinking clearly when making important decisions for their children; and ③ it was difficult for parents to accept their children’s diseases and to understand how their thoughts significantly affected those of their children. These supporters tended to place higher importance on verbal communication. We suggest that it is also important to be aware of the body language of children, including their expressions and behavior.続きを見る
