概要 This paper examines the structural changes in the economy and education in post-war Japan, by reviewing studies on this theme. Following the economic framework of "The human capital market", I examine... supply-demand relations and it's intermediating mechanism, in both the education market and the labor market. First, it is my view that transactions may have either marketable aspects or organizational aspects. In this model, it is important to pay close attention to the continuous and organizational transactions, and the school as not only a mediator but also as an actor. Second, levels of actors are multiple, i. e. not only individual family, school, and firm are actors, but also local community and local educational authority could be an aggregate actor. Third, it is necessary to consider the relationship between the style of each transaction and the social norms which are found in the given arena. As a result, in the period of the rapid economic growth, the one-dimensional individual education demand let to the expansion of school supply, and the internalization of labor demand strengthened the hierarchical structure of the labor supply of new graduates. Since the period of economic growth, both in educational demand and in labor, some crucial questions have emerged. The role of school as the "gate-keeper" for both education supply and labor supply has become more important, although not all market processes are hierarchical, selective, and competitive. These questions are examined in the body of this paper. This study concludes with the recommendation that the choosable and cooperative aspects of organizational transactions become the focus of more in-depth study.続きを見る
