We experimentally and numerically studied development and statistical properties of the free convection layer under a water surface. By a heating system, the temperature of the water near the surface ...was made higher than that of the water far from the surface. Thus, a stably stratified circumstance would be made. The flow pattern in the layer was visualized with an electrolytic precipitation method. Temperature and velocity fluctuations were simultaneously measured, and their vertical distributions were obtained. The numerical calculation gave good agreement with the experiments.続きを見る
