'Forest Certification' system has been attracting attention as an activity that contributes to realization of sustainable forest management. In Japan, certificated forests also have been increasing after 2000. The aims of this paper are to analyze incentives of the organizations which their forests were already certificated, procedure to get the certification and the gap between the effect expected from uncertificated organizations and actual effect confirmed by certificated ones. To get premium from rising timber price has been not realized by the certification, but many certificated organizations recognized to increase new sales channels and to raise their image. But the organizations who have not gotten forest certification still demand the price premium. There are disagreements between expectation and actual effect of forest certification.
