An on-line system for nondestructive measurement of tuber volume in sweet potato plants (Ipomoea batatas Lam.) was newly developed by applying a laser micrometer (LM). Diameters of the tuber were scan...ned by moving the LM along the longitudinal axis of the tuber at constant speed, and the volume was evaluated by an integral method.
