This article discusses the significance of teaching the Chinese classics in classes for first-year undergraduates. As a result of several revisions of the official course guidelines by the Ministry of... Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, there is now virtually no continuity between the teaching of the classics up until senior high school and university education. That being the case, how should one develop classes independently for first-year students? In this article, I have selected in particular the Lunyu 論語 (Analects) as a practical example and present several important topics for consideration to which the Chinese classics are perfectly suited and which would seem to be necessary topics for firstyear students, such as how to overcome the feelings of isolation (or alienation) within a group, which are invariably present in student life.続きを見る
