概要 |
Clinical reports have mentioned the cases of femoral bone fracture after resurfacing hip arthroplasty which happened to the patients with varus implant placement. This study has conducted fracture ana...lysis by using the finite element method. A 3D inhomogeneous bone model was successfully developed with resurfacing hip implant placed in 6°, 12°, and 18° varus. The implant model was designed according to the design features of Birmingham Hip Resurfacing. The risk of bone fracture increases as the implant is orientated wider towards the varus placement zone. The initiation of fracture has occurred at the femur that is implanted with varus 18°. Our finding concludes that the distal end of the resurfacing hip implant has a profound effect on the risk of bone fracture.続きを見る
