| 概要 | A new computer program for drawing of crystal habits has been written in a BASIC language. This program includes the data for symmetry operations, and allows of a minimum input of symmetrically equiva...lent crystal faces. The data for drawing a crystal habit using this program are the lattice constants, the crystal class, Miller indices and relative central distances of the crystal faces and the view direction. The full program is listed in the appendix. Generally, the crystal morphology can be quantitatively described by the relative distances from the center of the crystal to each face, i.e. central distances. However, it is difficult to measure the central distance of each face directly. In this study, it is pointed out that the central distance of a crystal face has a linear relation with the length of an appropriate crystal edge. The relation can be written as r= V ・ l+ W, where the r and l letters mean the central distance of a crystal face and the length of an edge, respectively. The V and W letters mean the constants which can be evaluated by fitting the equation to the appropriate two crystal habits drawn with the presented program, in which the r values are initially given for drawing and the l values can be measured in the figures drawn. This relation may be widely applicable to almost all crystals in order to estimate the relative central distance of each face by which the crystal morphology can be quantitatively described.続きを見る |
