| 概要 |
Since the care insurance was introduced, homes for the aged have been dealing with abolishment of physical restraint. However, there have been few studies on their efforts and changes that have taken ...place at such institutions. Thus a questionnaire survey was conducted at homes for the aged in a certain prefecture in Japan, in regards to the current situations of the abolishment and its consequent changes after the abolishment. All the institutions that responded were implementing the abolishment: “complete abolishment”, “partial abolishment”, “abolishment in accordance with necessity” are 33%,16% and 41%. In preparation for the abolishment, over 60% had carried out “regular conferences” and participated in “outside seminars.” At the time of abolishment, more than 80% of the institutions provided “explanations to the users and their families.” After the abolishment, the staff at many institutions became able to exchange more information about the aged, and the conditions of the aged improved. Also, there were no significant changes in the number of accidents after the abolishment. In terms of the accidents after the abolishment, “falling” amounted to about 65%. The exact nature of such accidents differed from institution to institution. In conclusion, despite the challenges and difficulties of introducing the complete implanting the abolishment, positive changes were observed among the users, their families and the staff, and there were no significant changes in the number of accidents after the abolishment. Thus, it is implied that the abolishment should be carried forward. It turned to be necessary to take measures for preventing accidents that are specific to institutions.続きを見る
