概要 |
Recently, penicillin resistant Streptococcus pneumoniae (PRSP) is widespread all over the world. S. pneumoniae is the leading cause of community-acquired pneumonia, meningitis, and otitis media. In ad...dition S. pneumoniae has been isolated from patients with conjunctivitis. In this study, we investigated penicillin susceptibility of 28 ophthalmic S. pneumoniae isolates by Etest measuring minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC). Of the 28 isolates, 17 proved to be sensitive (MIC≦0.06μg/ml) and 11 showd intermediately resistant to penicillin (MIC=0.1~1μg/ml) and there was none which had resistance (MIC≧2μg/ml). These findings suggest that PRSP is less common in ophthalmic S. pneumoniae than in invasive S. pneumoniae.続きを見る
