概要 This study discusses the ideals and trends of views about oral tradition in Tono City, Iwate Prefecture. We try to clarify the location of “an oral tradition that nurtures a person’s life” transmitted... by Abe Yae, who is a successer of local oral tradition. In Tono, where Yae Abe lived, people in many villages handed down their old tales from grandparents to their grandchildren until shortly after the end of World War II. It is said that children who grew up in the same village were brought up through the same song and story. There is the <folklore as a custom> that these people have practiced on a daily basis. However, Yae Abe has revealed the world of meaning which is behind the phenomenon of songs and stories that has been handed down secretly in the region. Even in Tono, few people know that. We will call <Traditional view as meaning>. On the other hand, the Tono municipal government has been promoting a policy of developing a town for tourism and culture for about 50 years with “The legends of Tono” (Kunio Yanagida) as its symbol. In response to the direction of community development and the demands of tourists, a new tradition was created in Tono. There is a <institutionalized view of tradition>. In addition, Tono was involved in the study of “The legends of Tono”, so there is the <Views of tradition shared by researchers> that the researches have. The main subject of this paper is to explore the position of the theory of Yae ABE’s tradition while being conscious of the differences and contact points between these four views of oral tradition. The major trend in folklore has shifted from <folklore as a custom> to <institutionalized view of tradition>. Where the administration was intentionally involved as in the tradition, the transition was further encouraged. On the other hand, the more <Researchers’ view of tradition> looked squarely at the changes of the times, the more they tended to accept <institutionalized view of tradition>. In the time that <folklore as a custom> was gradually disappearing, it was difficult that<traditional view as meaning> from Yae Abe was socially unacceptable. In addition, we pay attention to the strata between these traditional views. In particular, the impact on <institutionalized succession> will be an important issue in the future.続きを見る
