| 概要 | Though the ethics and morality of Greek tragedy have been analyzed before, there has been no study on the ethical value system of Greek tragedy analyzed from the viewpoint of a society without state p...ower. In the present paper, I attempted to clarify the ethical value system of Aeschylean and Sophoclean tragedy in comparison with that of Homeric society, which had a structure similar to that of the Albanian tribal customary code, the Kanun. With the aid of the ethical value system of Homeric society, six concepts, "oath", "honor", "guest", "blood", "food" and "revenge" have been extracted from Aeschylean and Sophoclean tragedy and analyzed. It was found that the ethical value system of Greek tragedy had a similar structure to that of Homeric epics, though the newly formed logic of the polis was superimposed on the ethical value system of a society without state power in Greek tragedy.
