| 概要 | Community public art projects to restore and rejuvenate the urban environments and sceneries that have deteriorated as a result of rapid urbanization in the postwar years are in progress in many areas... of Japan as exemplified by Ube City's (Yamaguchi Pref.) vanguard introduction of excellent works of art in 1960 and similar efforts by the cities of Kobe and Yokohama. There are currently more than 100 works of art in Fukuoka City including those installed by "Community Planning Project with Sculpture for Fukuoka". Under the Meinohama Rezoning Project implemented between 1989 and 2002, the works of art that may be described as the monuments of the project were installed under a unique and unprecedented "Partnership Program With Citizens". This report describes the Program by following the process from selection to installation of the works in the plaza in front of Meinohama Station, and discusses its result and future challenges.続きを見る |
