| 概要 | As a result of our review of three kinds of journals issued from 1931 to 1940 on steel tubular cantilever chairs for their diffusion and design development in Japan, the followings are noted: Steel tu...bular cantilever chairs started to be used from 1931 in Japan, and widely used between 1933 and 1937. In other words, the chairs were produced for 10 years in Japan before World War II. From 1931 the chairs were used mainly in the public space, and were in quantity production. While some were designed for personal residence, so cantilever chairs were produced both on order and in quantity. The area the chairs used was limited to the Kanto area. Many architects took parts in its designing, and the diffusion of the design was made among their groups. Several variations from a design were applied depending on situations. After World War II, cantilever chairs lost its popularity and were quite forgotten in the world until 1950s.続きを見る |
