概要 This study investigated the empathetic processes as induced by the “Dog and Rose Role Playing” technique with paired participants who took a speaker or listener role in one of five consulting situatio...ns using imaginary characters such as a rose, rubber eraser and dog. A total of 36 university students and 18 pairs who knew each other participated in the 15 minutes role-playing session followed by a semi-structured interview on aspects of empathize and being empathized experiences. Results showed 1) 10 out of 18 pairs showed symmetrical relations where a speaker’s and a listener’s experience of empathize-empathized combinations corresponded, and 8 pairs showed asymmetrical relations in which the pair’s perception of empathetic relations differed; and 2) behavioral factors or reasons that produced the listener’s experience of being-empathized were grouped into 9 categories such as nodding, shared positions, provision of episodes and non-negation. These results were discussed on the present research’s relevance for the basic understanding of empathetic experiences as binary processes and its validity for the actual counseling practices both in professional and everyday consulting situations.続きを見る
