京城帝国大学に学んだ女子学生 : 制度的な前提とその具体事例

概要 This article aims to describe a few female Korean and Japanese students who had learned at Keijō Imperial University (1924-45) established in colonial Korea. Basically, Keijō Imperial University accep...ted only male students who graduated the Preparatory School (Yoka: 豫科), however, it was never prohibited entering female students.
In the Faculty of Law and Letters at Keijō Imperial University, especially, department of philosophy, history and literature, accepted a few elective students, and female students also could enter the elective course (Senka: 選科).
Elective students could proceed to the regular course (Honka: 本科) as next step by passing the transfer admission tests, and finally they could get a bachelor’s degree.
In addition, Keijō Imperial University had produced only four female bachelors of Arts, and 3 of 4 were Korean students.
This article would show some specific examples of elective students’ career, in particular, Ok-nam Koh (major: English literature), Nam-dok Lee (major: Korean linguistics), Jin-sun Shin (major: English literature), and Hideko Akazawa (major: Korean history).
