| 概要 |
The accusative can be used in Mongolian as accusativus subjecti, i.e., as a logical subject or as a marker of the person acting, by using intransitive verbs in a subordinate clause. This fact can be f...ound in ordinary grammar books of Mongolian, but such a use in Manchu has rarely been described in the literature. Two studies (Uehara (1960), Tsumagari (2002)) of Manchu give one and the same citation from Manju -i yargiyan kooli, romanized and translated into Japanese by Imanishi (1938). No other citations of accusativus subjecti in Manchu appear to have been reported in linguistic studies. The present author of this paper has searched for that use in subordinate clauses ended with manggi "after", and obtained eleven instances, with eight from Man Wen Yuan Dang "Original Manchu Archives", and three from the Manchu version of San Guo Zhi Yan Yi "Tales of three kingdoms". In these eleven instances, the referent of the accusative subject in a subordinate clause is always different from that of the nominative (or indefinite) subject of a main clause.
