A purpose of this study is to clear the effect of vegetation in primary succession on control the process of slope recession. On the process, some types of talus cone in longitudinal profiles can be formed temporarily. In slope recession theories of geomorphology, the effect of vegetation has not been discussed. Vegetation germinating on the slope will resist to erosion, while they will be disturbed in its primary succession by erosion. Vegetation of the slope and longitudinal profile of talus cone indicate the process of slope recession. Debris accumulation on talus cone was analyzed by age structure of vegetation. This analysis lead to clear the adaptability for germinating and growing of vegetation. Capacity of catching and stabilizing the debris accumulated on talus cone is disscussed. Results are as follows. (1) Age structure of vegetation is classified into four types by magnitude and frequency of debris accumulation. (2) Germinating and growing in primary succession are possible in the case of low magnitude and low frequency of accumulation (3) Accumulation on talus cone is accelerated with catching and stabilizing by vegetation, especially on the upper part of slope.
