概要 To this day, I had seen many pieces of the stampped potteries, but could not solve the chronological problem easily by my own surveying, now we had the good fortune to excavate some archaeological sit...es of proto-Yayoi period in north-western Kyushu, last year and the last before. I could collect the datas on this subject. I hold that those stampped potteries belong to the last stages of Jyomon period. The location and the stratum prove this. I enumerated the examples of the woven cloth by the stamps on late Jyomon or Proto-Yayoi potteries. Probably the fibers of such cloth were made from a kind of hemps. We have also some examples of the woven cloth in Yayoi period. There is no striking difference between the examples of the later Jyomon and of Yayoi ons. Technically, the origin of a woven cloth goes back to the netting or knitting fabrics. Such stamps are sen on the bottom of Jyomon potteries. In early Han dynasty, that is the first stage of Yayoi period in Japan, China was producing many fine cloths, not only the cotten or hemp made, but the silk fabrics also. Probably, Japan was importing such fine cloths, it is possible, but I assert that the most of the early japanese cloths, as the articles of daily use, was being made by the native technics in prehistoric time.続きを見る
