概要 The 21st sheet of the Atlas is the dwindled copy by S. U. Remezov of one of the maps which had been comleted by himself and his son cooperatively in the Sibirsky Prikaz in Moscow by the 8th of Novembe...r,1698. In this map the position of Novaya Zemlya Island and the drawing of the Ob River, the Yenisey River, the Lake Baikal, the Amur River and the like were improved and the contents in general were more detailed, compared to his "Map of Siberia in 1687."But the drawing of the seacoasts to the north-east and to the east of Siberia is inferior to that of those in the preceding map; especially the drawing of a big extended cape "around which it is impossible to navigate," the existence of an island Kamchatka and the non-existence of Sakhalin are among the great faults of this map. The drawing of the big extended cape which is cut off at the end of the map is considered to have been influenced partly by N. Milesku Spafary (Spathary) and partly by the map drawn by A. A. Vinius in 1680-1683 which was supposedly observed by E. Kaempfer in Moscow in 1683.The drawing of Central Asia was generally improved and the Amu-Darya was also well drawn, but in the areas from the Tengyz Sea(including the Lake Balkhash and others) to which the Amu-Daria is traced to the Lake Kokonor the geographical knowledge is strikingly confused.続きを見る
