| 概要 | In this paper, the author argues that accompanying staff members of an overseas short-term program should be fully aware, for the sake of security, how the participants should prepare an appropriate s...hort-term study visa and get ready for a possible loss of a passport. This is based on his own experience as the coordinator of the 23-day English and academic program at the University of Cambridge with Japanese and non-Japanese students including non-visa nationals, visa nationals, and special permanent residents of Japan. When non- Japanese students studying at a Japanese university or college visit an overseas country for a short-term program, they have to obtain a different visa status depending on whether they are “non-visa nationals or special residents of Japan” or “visa nationals”. They and the accompanying staff are also required to realize what they must do before leaving Japan and what they ought to do in the case of students losing their passport during the overseas program. This is because the answer is different depending on which nation they are originally from. The knowledge and suggestions in this paper might be familiar to professional program coordinators, but the author hopes they will be of help to those who are trying to establish a new overseas program with their own singlehanded effort.続きを見る |
