Questionnaire on "Environment and Chemistry" was carried out lo the studerits of School of Agriculture, Kyushu Uriiversity in June 2000. Total 60 items of 11 topics were selected. The level of the knowledge of the students varied notably with items. Among the items, "earth warming", "destruction of ozone-layer" , "desertification", "Minamata-disease", "solar batlery", "wind generation", "fossil fuel", "re-cycling", "acid rain", "bioaccumulation", and "food chain" are well known by the students. These items were estimated to be studied through education until high-school. The knowledge of the items such as "biomass" , "half-life", "radiation", "eutrophication", "heavy metal", "mutagen", "median lethal dose", "estrogen", "PCB (polychlorinated biphcnyl)", and "poisonous materials" was estimated to be mostly obtained through education in the university. In contrast, the items of "cogeneration", "manifest system", "disclosure quantity", "IS0 14000", "risk assessment", "life-cycle assessment" are hardly known. The knowledge of the remaining items is probably acquired through the articles of newspaper, TV programs, and scientific boolis. About 50% of the students may have a more or less strong interest to the enviorninent problems.
