概要 |
Although salivary alpha-amylase (sAMY) has been considered to reflect sympathetic nervous activity, whether the measurement of the activity using a recently developed hand-held monitor (Amylase monito...r, Nipro Co., Ltd.) really serves as an easy-to-use index for stress remains to be elucidated. The aim of this study was to evaluate the relationships between psychological factors, such as mental arithmetic stress or relaxation, several kind of mood staus, and sMAY activity using the hand-held monitor in a total of 70 university students. The subjects were randomly divided into 2 groups and simultaneously participated in experiment sessions in which either the Uchida-Kraepelin test as mental arithmetic stress or autogenic training as relaxation was practiced for 10 min each. This procedure was repeated after changing the assignment of groups in order that the subjects would have each kind of experimnet. We measured sAMY activity before, 5min, and 10min after teh experiment. The subjects were also required to assess thier mood status using the Profile of Mood States (POMS) before and after the experiment sessions. The subjects showed a tendency of a decrease in sAMY activity following relaxation, but not following mental arithmetic stress. Such a tendency seemed to reflect the results of females rather than those of males. There were significant interaction effects between the groups and the sessions regarding the Tension-Anxiety, the Depression-Rejection, the Fatigue, and the Confusion scores of the POMS. The results indicated the effect of relaxation. No significant relationships were observed between the scores of the POMS and the levels of sAMY before and after the sessions not only in the mental arithmetic stress group, but also in the relaxation group. In conclusion, the measurement of sAMY activity using the hand-held monitor may be a useful marker of relaxation.続きを見る
