概要 The criticism of Christianity is well known as a key factor in the works of Arthur Rimbaud (1854-1891), a French poet. But this key factor is not typified enough. The first purpose of this paper is to... typify it by two terms: institutional criticism and conceptual criticism, as proposed by Yoshio Abe, a researcher on Baudelaire. In the same proposal, Abe raised the issue that Rimbaud’s criticism of Christianity would lead to a problem with the opacity in his poems. The second purpose is to analyze this opacity from the point of view of the criticism of Christianity and the poetic enunciator. First, I consider the institutional criticism. I use“ Le Mal” (1871), one of the early poems (1870-1871), as an example. This poem describes the miserable spectacle of the Franco-Prussian War and the deceit of the Catholic Church. The central point of this description is the cold gaze of God. Rimbaud radically describes God as a physical existence and he criticizes the incompetence of the Catholic Church, namely, the institution. Secondly, I consider the conceptual criticism. I use “Les Soeurs de Charité” (1871) for this. The “charité” in the title is an object of Rimbaud’s criticism, because it is a very traditional concept in Christian culture. The main description of this poem is the incompetence of this concept in our life. Rimbaud criticizes this aspect of Christian culture, denying this key concept. Finally, this paper enters into the question of opacity and reflection, using“ Le Bateau ivre” (1871) as an example. In this poem, the criticism of Christianity remains in the background, but the meanings have an important relation to the poetic enunciator =“ Bateau”. At this point, the criticism of Christianity has opacity. All in all, it is essentially the reflection about“ Bateau”.続きを見る
