| 概要 | In the Japanese education system, informational handouts are the main form of communication between schools and parental guardians. Consequently, for parental guardians who are foreign-born, understan...ding these handouts is not only a matter of their language abilities but also a test of whether they can live within Japanese society (Li & Honda, 2015 ). In this study, we analyzed the features and contents of handouts for parental guardians, using several separate surveys administered to foreignborn residents in Japan. Moreover, we compiled a school newsletter database and employed quantitative and qualitative techniques to analyze key vocabulary and tacit cultural dynamics particular to Japanese school culture. Through an analysis of parental guardian’s comprehension level of school newsletters, we aim to highlight the need to support foreign-born parents in acquiring tacit knowledge of Japanese school culture.続きを見る |
