In Vietnam, in recent years, the furniture processing industry has been growing rapidly with the increase of foreign capital and the relocation of factories. Accordingly, we expect that existing furniture company's business structure has changed drastically. The furniture companies which set out consignment production concentrate in Ho Chi Minh City. We discuss the issues and perspectives by the type of inter-business relationship from the business conditions of the furniture company in Ho Chi Minh City that has business connections with Japanese companies, and consider how best to do business. All three companies we surveyed began to do consignment production from Doi Moi in 1986. Company A has diversified products and business partners. They use Rubberwood for environmental reasons and made an effort to secure materials with plantation owners. B has diversified their operation and seen increased business partners. On the other hand, C has been dependent on M, a Japanese company, and they desire to shift from parts production to finished product production. None of the companies deal with Japanese company by "Spot" type. For the sustainable development in the Vietnamese furniture industry, Japanese companies should make middle-length contracts or business tie-ups called "Transitional structure" and cooperate with local companies.
