概要 |
Partial substitution of Cr, Mn, Co, or Ni for Fe in FeSi2 led to stably semiconducting FeSi2, of which p-type appeared with Cr and Mn whereas Co- and Ni-substitution caused n-type. Substitution of oth...er various transition and non-transition metals for Fe significantly varies the microstructure of sintered samples. Consequently, the thermoelectric power increases and the electrical conductivity decreases with decreasing relative density of the samples. On the other hand, H2 reduction of a thin oxide layer on the surface of the sintered samples notably improved the thermoelectric power without changing the electrical conductivity. Microstructural modification by varying the particle size of the powders for the sintering procedure revealed that the sample consists of the most coarse particles attained the maximum value of the thermoelectric figure of merit since the coarse particles decreased the surface area and the thermal conductivity of the sintered body.続きを見る
