Microstructures in rapidly solidified Ti_50Al_45Mo_5 alloy powders by the plasma-rotating-electrode-process (PREP) were investigated by means of scanning electron microscopy(TEM). It was found that th...e PREP alloy powders contain the ordered α_2 (hcp-based D0_19 structure) and the β_2 (bcc-based B2 structure) phases, and their microstructures vary considerably with locations in the powder. The inhomogeneity in microstructures is explained in terms of the difference in cooling rate depending on the depth from the powder surface.続きを見る
