概要 In recent years, the number of Japanese learners has been increasing all over the world. Although the Japanese Government initiates and supports the study of the Japanese language in various parts of ...the world, the educational purpose of such efforts are not so clear. The forms of Japanese language study backed by the Japanese Government are diverse and sometimes viewed as a form of hobby. This study looks to clarify the purpose of such educational practices. In order to do so we have interviewed Japanese teachers and examined the results using PAC analysis; a form of analysis that allows for an assessment of opinions that have not previously been present in relevant discourse. We have incorporated sociological theory into this study and viewed the overseas Japanese language classroom as a society in itself. According to the structuration theory put forward by Giddens, it is action based on people’s practical consciousness that forms a society, and in this research we hope to precipitate such a consciousness through employing PAC analysis. We aim to clarify the intent of the study of Japanese overseas through looking into the practical consciousness of Japanese teachers working abroad. PAC analysis results reveal that Japanese teachers emphasize contact with the learner, focusing on a sense of fun and happiness that is born out of language learning. In conclusion, it seems that at first glance, when it comes to the educational purpose of learning Japanese, as well as with regards to communication between students and teachers in the classroom, importance is attributed to pursuing the enjoyment that comes from learning a language.続きを見る
