The aim of this study is to clarify the genesis and the development of modern Korean children's literature. The concept of children's literature that originated in this period remains pervasive to thi...s day. By considering the process by which children's literature developed as a unique domain, we can oberve one aspect of modernization in Korean literature. The birth of children's literature was simultaneous with that of the modern view of the child. Previous to modern times, children were seen to exist us as immature adults, lacking perfection. Children were treated as "small adults" or "immature grown-ups". They did not have any unique system or properties of their own, but in modern times, an awareness of the particular nature of childhood has appeared. This change in the view of the child was influenced by the modernization of society. Japanese children's literature offers a theoretical basis for the analysis of Korean children's literature. The texts chosen for considering the character of this process are "Sonyun", "Kaebyok" and "Euorini"続きを見る
