概要 |
This study focuses on Northern Sung Dynasty writer Ouyang Xiu's use of seasonal words of greeting and climatic descriptions in his letters. Ouyang Xiu often mentioned the season or climate in his poem...s and essays. Likewise, his many letters that survive to this day contain seasonal words of greeting and remarks about changes in the climate. Yet, in the letters compiled for the JuShiJi, which he personally edited, descriptions concerned with seasonal words of greeting and climate are not entered at all. It is conjectured that at the time he compiled his letters for the JuShiJi, Ouyang Xiu deleted any description of weather and climate. The fact is that Ouyang Xiu often revised his letters. Since his own views and opinions appear in letters for the JuShiJi, we think that when Ouyang Xiu compiled the JuShiJi, he revised the letters so that the views and opinions he was passing along would be clear. Therefore, seasonal words of greeting and references to climate, which were unrelated to his views and opinions, were deleted. For Ouyang Xiu, the JuShiJi was not a compilation of mere letters, but rather a "literary work" that expressed his personal views and opinions.続きを見る
