概要 This paper aims to provide a description of the intonation which occurs at the end of sentences in the Takahagi dialect spoken in the northern Ibaraki prefecture. The intonation is a rising-falling to...ne which often appears when the speaker reminds the hearer what the hearer has just said. The observation suggests that there are two conditions. (i) The rising-falling intonation appears at the end of the sentence followed by Q-particle -ke and the one-word sentence which consists of only a noun phrase (+joshi) or an adverb. (ii) The rising-falling intonation does not appear at the end of the sentence which contains WH-words. This paper also considers the rising-falling intonation which appears at the end of the (echo) questions of the Takahagi dialect. By showing that it appears when speaker does not request any information from hearer, it is concluded that the rising-falling intonation of the Takahagi dialect indicates the speaker's inference of what the hearer is thinking.続きを見る
