概要 This paper aims at identifying the characteristics of conversations in which healthcare workers explain health checkup results and give healthcare advice to the patients. It analyzes a total of 15 two...-person conversations between: 1) women in their 60s in need of motivational support after health checkups, on one side, and 2) a healthcare worker in charge of giving medical advice, on the other. The following three characteristics of the conversations have been identified: 1) When explaining health checkup results, the healthcare workers can make themselves better understood by using lay terms instead of technical ones. Furthermore, they can soften their words by conveying information in moderate terms and understating the results. 2) When setting the target for lifestyle improvement, explanations which base on scientific evidence are more effective if they are given after allowing the patients to reflect on their own lifestyle. 3) When a gap in understanding occurs, it can be bridged either by restating the information or by empathizing with the patient during communication.続きを見る
