九州大学福岡演習林早良実習場（旧早良演習林〉 におけるマツ枯れ跡地の森林植生の変化を明らかにするために，航空写真と現地調査によって作成した植物社会学的植生図にもとづく研究がなされた．これまで発生した多量の枯死木に伴い，どのような植生変化が生じたかを面的にみるために，1981年と11年経過した1992年における植生図を比較した．これら植生図は，遷移初期段階に高常在度で存在する特徴的な5つの群落診断種...群で構成される植生単位で区分・表示され，各単位ごとの面積を求め解析した．群落区分された植生単位は，アカマツータロマツ群乳 伐跡地および裸地，セイタカアワダチソウーススキ群落，アカメガシツーハゼノキ群落，タロキーアカマツ群落，ヒサカキータブノキ群落の6種類であった．マツ枯れ跡地では，マツ枯死木の伐採・搬出作業等の撹乱によって裸地化するが，短期間のうちに陽性の草本あるいは木本植物の侵入・繁殖による植生回復が進行し，さらにヒサカキ一夕ブノキ群落へ遷移していくことが明らかとされた．マツ枯れ被害の頻発と拡大は，マツ林から自然植生である常緑広葉樹林への変化を速める大きな要因であると考えられた．
Phytosociological vegetation mapping was conducted in 1981 and 1992 to study the successional change of community types(Vegetation units A to F) after pine wilting damage in the Sawara Forest of Kyushu University in Fukuoka City. Change of the occupying area of each community was mainly due to disturbance by selective felling and transportation of dead pine trees. Consequently the great decline of any community, which showing an 13.8% decrease during the eleven year period, was the Pinus densiflora-Pinus thunbergii community (Vegetation unit A), The most distinctive expansion was observed in the community type at an early successional stage, in the Mallotus japonicus-Rhus succedanea community (Vegetation unit D), which sbowing an 8.1% increase. The transition between community types generally occurred as follows : from Vegetation unit A to Solidago altissima-Miscanthus sinensis community (Vegetation unit C) and Vegetation unit D ; from Cutover land and Bare area (Vegetation unit B) to Vegetation unit D ; from Vegetation unit C to Vegetation unit D ; from Vegetation unit D to Symplocos lucida-Pinus densiflora community (Vegetation unit E) and Eurya japonica-Persea thunbergii community (Vegetation unit F) ; from Vegetation unit E to Vegetation unit F. These results imply that the change in vegetation was caused by the progress of a secondary succession rather than a temporary retrogressive one after pine wilting damage.続きを見る
