根で作られる植物ホルモンは道管または仮道管を通る蒸散流にのり，あるいは師部の師管を満たす姉管液にとけて他の器官に運ばれ，それぞれ特有の生理現象を刺激する．このため根の植物ホルモンは根の生長に限らず，地上部の生長にもつよく関係する．一般に植物ホルモンの研究は内生ホルモンの実態を究明する方向と，外生ホルモンが示す生理現象を究明する方向との，2つの方向から進められる．ここでは比較的最近の研究成果をとりま...とめ，樹木の根の生長生理に，植物ホルモンがどのように関係するか，またその研究の現状はどうか，などの点を明らかにしようと考えた．このため3つに区分し，1）内生ホルモンでは，あるがままの根における，あるがままの植物ホルモンの生理について，2）外生ホルモンでは，投与ホルモンが示す生長現象について，3）内生ホルモンと外生ホルモンでは，両者の生理の相互関係について，それぞれ記述した．
Phytohormones biosynthesized in roots of vascular plants are transported to other organs with the transpiration streams through vessels or tracheides, or with the sap ascent in sieve tubes, and then they show their characteristic actions to plant growth. Therefore, the phytohormones produced in roots strongly affect the growth of aerial parts as well as that of roots. The study of phytohormones generally is carried out in the two lines ; one is the investigation of the actual conditions of endogenous hormones, and the other is the investigation of the physiological reactions induced by exogenous hormones. In this paper, relatively recent studies are summarized and discussed to clarify the phytohormone effects on the growth and vital functions of tree roots. This paper is divided into three sections and the topics as follows are described ; 1) The physiology of endogenous hormones in roots under native or intact conditions. 2) The physiological phenomena induced by administrations of exogenous hormones. 3) The physiological interactions induced by both endo- and exo-genous hormones.続きを見る
