概要 The question I would like to present in this article is the impact of teaching Japanese in North Borneo under the Japanese occupation 1941-1945. In this paper, to verify the meaning of Japanese langua...ge education in the multicultural and multiracial society, and the impact of teaching Japanese was considered. The ethnic identity mentioned here means a cultural sense of belonging which includes the sense of belonging to the native land. The result clearly shows that there is double impact of Japanese education under the Japanese rule control, though it was indirect impact. First, the esteem of the rule and work in Japanese education led to the promotion of the spirit of autonomy and the independence of local people. Second, their ethnic identity was awoken by sharing the sense of impending crisis to the loss of their own language and the culture, and being compelled Japanese and the Japanese culture. Furthermore, there is another side that sharing the sense of impending crisis each other led to breeding their ethnic solidarity consciousness beyond the ethnicity.続きを見る
