概要 When an opaque object occludes a distant surface, visual areas that can be seen monocularly (monocular zone) arise. Retinal images in such monocular zones are called as binocularly unmatched features.... I categorized several types of the stereopsis based on unmatched features, and reviewed the role of unmatched features in binocular stereopsis. It is known that occlusion as well as slant produces the same retinal images. Therefore, I discussed how the visual system differentiates unmatched features arisen from occlusion and slant. Finally, I discussed a common mechanism between the stereopsis based on unmatched features and conventional disparity-based stereopsis. I conclude that binocularly unmatched features are effective cues to depth perception and construction of occluding surfaces, in which occlusion constraint, depth constraint zone, and minimum slant constraint play an important role.続きを見る
