| 概要 |
The aim of this study is to clarify the protein metabolism of hill villagers in Nepal, who consume no animal protein, based on nitrogen balance studies. Six clinically healthy males (33.5±4.0 year) ...participated in this study which evaluated the subjects both during busy and slack farming seasons. We evaluated all consumed foods and the 24-h urine for 5 days and collected the feces from all subjects for 3 days during busy farming season. In the slack season, we evaluated all consumed foods, 24-hour urine and feces for 3 days, respectively. The nitrogen balance was -4.74±2.4 g/day during the busy farming seasons, on the other hand the nitrogen balance was 0.90±0.68g/day in the slack season. In the busy farming season, the nitrogen intake and energy intakes were insufficient to meet the daily requirements. Therefore, the body weight of all individuals was significantly lower in the busy farming season than during the slack season. These results suggest that the protein and energy intake correlated with protein turnover in Nepalese individuals.続きを見る
