Kuo Mo-Juo was continuing creation and criticism activities in Shanghai until he went to Guangzhou on March 18, 26, after he was accompanied by his Japanese wife and children and went back from Japan... on November 16, 1924. Guangzhou was the new capital of a national revolution and was the holy place for youths and intellectuals who were searching for freedom those days. However, after he arrived at Guangzhou for a new post as Department-of-literature division manager at Guangdong University for about four months, he put down his pen and joined the national revolutionary army. During the war of the Northern Expedition, he was put on the wanted list owing to having betrayed Chiang Kai-shek, an army supreme commander. For this reason, he had to defected to Japan with his family on February 24, 1928. What did he do? What happened to him? In order to know these things, I investigated focusing on the following problem. 1. Under rule of the national revolutionary government, why did Kuo Mo-Juo resign the department-of-literature division manager's post in Guangdong University, and take part in the Northern Expedition as a military man? 2. Kuo Mo-Juo had the member-of-the Communist Party of China's history for 51 years. It has a ground in the fact that Kuo had joined the CCP during The Nachang rising in 1927. When did he really approach the Communist Party, and began to consider joining it? 3. Kuo Mo-Juo got the teaching profession of Guangdon University, and it arrived in Guangzhou on March 23, 26. There had been four months until the Northern Expedition started. What did he do at that time? 4. Kuo Mo-Juo said that he was a Kuomintang's member (Kuo Mo-Juo "In memory of Deng Zesheng").
