In part one of this paper (in the preceeding number of this bulletin), I have discussed, what is problematic and confusing in discussing matters regarding language and cultures. Yhis part two I will m...ake a short survey of some representive ideas regarding the meaninf of languageg expressions : refrential theory and speech act theory. Thereafter I will system of language meaning. My idea in essentially based on the framework of possible world semantics, which was established by R. Montague. I will also mention the relation between language meaning, thought and realities ect, in which I have refferred to the structuralistic concept of “meaning trapezium” as proposed by K. Hegar and K. Baldinger. My conclusion in part two is that one can distinguish “cognitive cincepts” from “linguish meaning” The linguistic meaning works distinctively, that is the reference of this expression shold be different from that of another, because of thus and thus difference in meaning, while the cognitive concept concernus the classification of thigs in human activites. One ought not to ignore such differences between the two factors. In the concluding part od this study (Part III to appear in the next number), we can observe language and cultural problems more cleary on the basis of the discussion in this present work.続きを見る
